History of Dayspring Ministries

Dayspring Ministries is a non-profit Christian ministry that was founded in 1984 by Bruce and Carol Hawthorne. It began as a ministry that met the special needs of foster children living in Christian homes in Northern New Jersey. For 20 years, Carol and Bruce often had as many as 10 foster teens living with their family. Some of the teens remain an integral part of the Hawthorne family, while others maintain contact from time to time. The cool guy with the shades in the photo above is Steve, Carol and Bruce's adopted Haitian son.

After Carol's first trip to Haiti in 1997 with Dayspring's president, Scott Hoffman, the mission of Dayspring was refocused to a new area of ministry - the children and families of the Light & Peace Missions in Haiti. Dayspring Ministries encourages and supports the work God is doing among His people in the 50 Light & Peace Mission churches through-out Haiti. Dayspring works with Pastor Ronald Lefranc and the other Mission leaders, encouraging them in their efforts to share the Gospel and supporting their financial needs as God provides.
